Troop 365 will be hosting the 2025 Bushwack hike on Feb 2 inviting all Webelos, Arrow of Light, or other interested youth to join us. If you are not familiar with the Troop 365 Bushwack hike, here is the summary:
- We meet in the Church parking lot at 7 am to board the bus
- After riding about an hour to John Bryan State Park, we hike approximately 2.5 miles along the bottom of the beautiful Clifton Gorge following the Pittsburgh-Cincinnati Stage Coach Trail, the John L Rich Trail, and the Narrows Trail.
- We stop for lunch in Clifton to eat at the Historic Clifton Mill. If you like you can try their Pancake Challenge! If you can finish two of their huge 1 lb pancakes, they will give you a third pancake for free!
- After filling up with pancakes, we hike about 2.5 miles back to the bus following the Narrows Trail and the North Rim Trail.
- We will board the bus and head over to Youngs Dairy for a treat.
- We will board the bus again and return to the church, arriving around 5PM.
- As you get off the bus, each participant will receive a Bushwack Patch to show everyone (it’s a huge patch).
What you need:
- Gear and attire that is comfortable for hiking 5 miles on unpaved trails in the winter.
- Some money for lunch at Clifton Mill and a treat at Young’s Dairy.
- A great sense of adventure.
Other Details:
There is no cost for this event. The patch and transportation on the bus is provided by Troop 365, just bring money for your lunch and to buy something at Young’s Dairy.
Although Troop 365 is an all boys troop, female Scouts or any other youth in 4th or 5th grade are welcome to join us for this event. All youth must be accompanied by a responsible adult, den leaders are welcome to bring multiple Scouts.
Please let us know if you plan to attend by emailing membership@bsa365.org. We will provide links to the permission form and the required health form when you RVSP.
