What: Rappelling, of course! Or “abseiling” if you’re German~~ The art of dangling on a rope over a cliff. Our qualified Rappelmasters teach you the right way/ the safe way. If you are 13 and younger, you get to do so only in the presence of your parent or other guardian (not necessarily on the rope, just topside). Find out how many times you have to do it to earn the coveted rappelling knot– Scouts and adults. Back at camp, work on some of those outdoor skills you’ve been wanting to become proficient at, including cooking in a dutch oven.

Rappelling Fall Campout 2012 Handout
Well, we were set for rappelling this past weekend, but alas! it was not to be. We all hope Mr. Burkett and his family are doing well.
So, instead we did some fishing for albino catfish (no, Mr. Sweet, no Fig Newtons); we heard about the Indian captivity of Forest Rose near Lancaster, Ohio in 1790/91 and the subsequent battle at nearby Mt. Pleasant, which we climbed and were rewarded with a spectacular view of the City of Lancaster and surrounding countryside; in the process, we looked for evidence of 10 wild animals (and found a flattened raccoon carcass) and had lunch at the city park (ha ha, no, it was turkey sandwiches, chips and lemonade); we returned to the Prosser farm for our “5-lb-hamburger-chili”, dutch oven corn muffins, and dutch oven dump cake. Way to go, Kody, Knoble, Sean, Gabe, James and Torin! (all of whom still had room for s’mores after the adults went to bed early!). It was a blast! Great time! Look for another RAPPELLING opportunity October 29th!
