Gettysburg Adventure

June 29 to July 8, 2013

Gettysburg is celebrating it’s 150th anniversary this year and BSA Troop 365 is planning a special summer camp of our own to coincide with this event!

  • We will be camping near the battlefields that 150 years ago saw the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War.
  • We will be hosting our own merit badge classes for scouts, with our own BSA 365 merit badge councilors.
  • We will be hiking some of the historic trails in and around Gettysburg.
  • We will be witnessing re-enactments of this famous battle (including Pickets Charge).
  • We will be having fun and creating memories that will last forever!!

The Battle of Gettysburg

The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War and is often described as the war’s turning point. Union Maj. Gen. George Gordon Meade’s Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee’s invasion of the North.

Calling all volunteers!

We are looking for Adults and Merit Badge Counselors to volunteer to ride with us to Gettysburg.

  1. We will be having a combined Troop 365/Troop 268 planning meeting/get together Thursday, December 20th from 7PM to 8:30PM at the Worthington United Methodist Church. We will be going over what has already been planned; making decisions on what still needs planned; watching a little video of Gettysburg; answering questions; and having snacks. For those who have signed on, this is for you! (Sorry, those who had not signed on as of October 15th, we have no more room). Hope to see you then!
