District Camporee – October 4-6

DISTRICT CAMPOREE OCT. 4- 6, 2013
CIVIL WAR COMMEMORATION
THE BATTLE OF SPROAT LAKE

When: We meet at the Church Friday, October 4, at 5:30PM to load up, and leave soon thereafter.
We return to the Church Sunday, October 6 by 12:00 noon.

Where: Camping at Camp Chief Logan

What: Become an enlisted man of the 30th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War (1861-1865) so that you can camp like a Civil War soldier; learn period camping techniques such as primitive fire building, map reading, semaphore and signaling, knots and lashings, first aid, as well as marching and drilling. Meals will include cooking in a dutch oven. You will also earn “chits” at each station that you can use to “purchase” your lunch at the Camp Sutler’s tent (actually included in the fee). A mandatory rifle safety briefing at 8:30AM Saturday will allow you to shoot the black powder rifle, a privilege most Scouts don’t get a chance to do!

Cost: $30.00 — covers transportation, food, lodging/district camp fee.
