Scouting on the Water

Looking for an opportunity to complete a fun merit badge this summer?  How about learning to sail in just a weekend?  If you have completed your BSA swimming test since 6/1/2013, you’re ready to attend; otherwise, contact Sea Scouts Ship 280 beforehand and they will help you achieve this requirement as well.  Ship 280 at Leatherlips Yacht Club in Powell sponsors this event annually, and it will be held Thursday, August 1st starting at 6 p.m. and run through Sunday, August 4th at noon (if needed, to make sure you have the skills to complete the merit badge).   All meals, snacks, equipment, and camping will be included in the extremely reasonable cost of $45/scout; $30 adult.  Click on http://ship280sailingmb.eventbrite.com/# for more information and to register.

Come and practice your skills and participate in other fun events (boat and canoe races, sandcastle building, knot tying, etc.) the following weekend at Alum Creek’s group camp area for the 10th annual Sea Scouts Rendezvous, sponsored by Ship 468.  Cost is only $20 and covers camping, a very cool patch, Saturday night’s dinner and two cracker barrels.  Mark the dates on your calendar…August 9th through the 11th.    More information is available by clicking on http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oG7nSKE7dRKkUAJtBXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTBybjFrcjVnBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNARjb2xvA2FjMgR2dGlkAw–/SIG=13auuljct/EXP=1370981386/**http%3a//www.camplazarus.org/documents/simonkentoncouncil/Rendezvous_2013%255B1%255D.doc  Sea Scouts, Venturers, and Troops (especially from Westerville) are currently registered to attend.  Come join us!
